Question Is feeble floor heat normal? Fan blows well normally

Is it normal to have feeble air flow through the floor vents? The air direction is pointed straight down to floor and dash vents setting. With the dash vents closed, I don't get much air flow out of the floor vents. If I open the dash vents, air blasts out like normal (high blast at high, low at low setting).

It has been feeble for years. Could the vents be clogged, or not fully open? Could it just be the Mercedes way to not blast heat out of the floor vents?

I have an R172 and the floor vent heating is the weakest of any car I've driven so you are not alone.

This may be a very opinionated thread... but I think the floor heater in my 170 is one of the best I've ever had.

MB have a history of the Duo-valve failing. Heat is compromised when it fails to work correctly. See item 60 in the link.

There's a link in my reply to your introduction that's a good place to start.

In my 171 the floor heat is desultory - but - it did improve substantially when I changed the cabin filter. And boy, did it need changing....
