R170 swap seats for facelift version

Hi,
I'm in a predicament here.
I've just bought a Silver SLK230 99 Spec with Blue/Black interior and have the opportunity to upgrade the seats to use a pair from a facelift SLK320.
To upgrade will also mean changing the under dash and console to black also and whichever one I decide, I am already planning on touching up the rub marks with specialist paint.
The original seats are in excellent condition as the car has done just over 50k miles (a lot less than the facelift donor).

I don't have the car myself as a friend is going to do the work and he's a distance away. I think the decision to do it or not will be based on the benefits of comfort in the seats. I read stories saying the facelift ones are better, but I was wondering if anyone who has experience of both can say what they think.

Are the older ones that bad?
What is the difference between the two?
Is it worth it?

Thank you.

If the replacements were less worn and better quality and were heated or electric than yes if not .
I doubt it .

They are heated and electric and not as good condition. Its not about the hassle of swapping, I'm looking more to see if the new seats would improve the ride.

If you have access to the newer seats sit on them try them out see if there is any diff to your original ones or are they not to hand ?

Alas, the car is about 300 miles away so I can't. Only option I suppose is to go find 2 variants locally.

aside from the colour

they look pretty similar to me. My facelift has seats like your 99, but mine are red and black. I doubt they would improve the ride at all tbh.

The term improve ride as in the comfort of seat ?
Or the car ride as in stiffness / suspension ?

He wants to improve .

not a great pic

but those black ones look electric to me. which will be a bit troublesome, as you blue ones are manual.

the guy who has the car breaks SLK's so he has everything to transfer from manual to electric if I go that way. Must admit, if the facelift seats don't offer any ride improvements, then I will probably leave standard.

If its ride improvements as in either softer ride ?

The wheel size makes a difference
Coil springs / shock absorber
And tyre pressures as such
New Tyres can help
Wheel alignment
Steering damper shock
Steering idler

Yeah, plenty to improve. All I'm really after is that the old seats I see a lot of people complaining on a long journey that its not comfy and the facelift models had uprated seats. I assume to fix that. I was just wondering if they had.
