Ticking/knocking sound

Any ideas on this sound? Started after I fixed a vacuum leak from the intake manifold to the vent controls so believe it is vacuum related. Thx.

Are you sure it's up top, and not something like an idler bearing or alternator bearing?

or possibly the belt... can you see the belt going round smoothly and not causing the tensioner pulley to bounce?

Thx for the help. Pretty confident it is on top. Replaced belt, tensioner, and idlers about 10k ago and they all seem good. When I get back home I'll do another detailed search.

The reason I ask if it's in front and not on top is because the noise sounds similar to a noise I'm having with M113 (although not as bad). and mine doesn't have any of that emissions stuff up top.

I've traced it to either the alternator or something with the timing chains.

does it go away with more RPM? can you hear it inside the car?

Mine has had that sound for four years, am told on the other forum it is the secondary air pump but sure sounds like a rod knock at idle. Loudest when next to a wall on the passenger side.
