Headlamp changes?

I need a drivers headlamp for my 2003 facelift SLK. Are they all the same from 1998 to 2005?

Cheers Neil

Cool

Quite possibly, I am sure someone with more knowledge than me will come along.
A few folk have changed to Spyder lights.
They get rid of some of the chrome and give you DRL's at the same time.
Search for @davethescaff and @ZeroZero.

Or just look at my .sig. Takes about 15 minutes after you remove the grille (5 minutes). More if you wire the DRLs. See here.

OP has a 170 I think. R171 starts in 2004. R170 runs until 2004.

There are still options though.

Yes, r170

Thanks for the upgrade advice. I will be sticking with good quality halogen in OEM fittings.

Some advertisers hint that the facelift cars are different. I don’t think they are and was looking for confirmation either way.

Cheers Neil

These do look nice and give a more modern look by making the headlamp one unit.

Cheers Russ

Right. Answered my own question.
I bought a prefacelift headlamp in great condition.
It’s identical to my facelift unit except for the electrical plug. Sort of square in the pre fl and inline in the fl.
I could have cut off the plug from my car and fitted the old one or sold this lamp and bought the proper one.
In the end I used my Dremel and cut off the socket from my broken lamp and Dremeled a
hole in the replacement and glued it in complete with wiring harness.
If I was doing this again I would have looked for the correct lamp but my conversion works fine.
Cheers Neil
