Question ecu part number A0195453132

HI everyone, me again.
when attempting the bypass to open the roof (see control box post) i connected the wrong wire to ground and fried the ecu part number A019 545 31 32.
I have ordered a replacement, but wonder if it needs any special programming to suit my SLK 230 R170, the replacement is identical to the blown one, (except it works according to the supplier)
Will replacing this unit allow my car to return to normal operation, as at the moment it only has first and reverse gears working and all were fine before i fried it, and even putting it in gear is jerky, where as it was operating smoothly before the ecu smoked, after grounding the wrong wire. If anyone knows about this and can advise, i would greatly appreciate it.

Very few on here can answer that one. You'd expect it to work so long as nowt else got fried.

Wonder why the fuse didn't catch it.

Never swapped an ECU myself but the pre-FL R170 didn't seem to have all the theft-relevant security features that bedevil later cars.
