can I delete the heated windshield washer hose?

I buggered up the heated hoses for the windshield on my 2000 SLK230. Can I just unplug the connector for the hoses from the thermostat unit and use regular tubing or will that set an error light?
I rarely see freezing temps in NW Oregon and I drive my 180 300SD with 483,000 miles when there is any risk of compromised traction, anyway.
Still have the heater for the reservoir and nozzles, as well. Just wondering if this will give me an error light.
Thanks,
David

I don't know the answer but if you do unplug and it shows an error surely it could just be replugged.
Although, you might have to clear an error code.

I see your in the rural area, but why not ask on the local threads for Oregon if anyone reasonably local has a reader to do this first.
