temperaturee gauge running hot

Can anyone help, my engine temp on my R170 2.3k 1997 was running at 95deg C into traffic today it usual runs at 80degC, running fine on motorway, ive had a couple of niggling electrical problems with corroded wiring. I dont believe the radiator cooling fan is working. The heater in the car is fine and the car warms up as usual in about 5mins on a cold day.

Any ideas?

I beleive you have checked the fluid level in the radiator by this stage , if so then after having read some posts on this forum site and having had a similar type of issue with my own 1998 slk 230 have your Cat converter checked as this may cause the heating problem according to the posts and personnal experience.
