Question on bumper crack

I cracked my bumper over a parking kerb.

Crack is around 3 inches long. So...

1 - I was wondering if this can be fixed by the dealer without replacing the bumper?
2 - Any tip to avoid further damage while saving for the body work to be done?

Any decent body shop can repair that. If it was mine I would do it myself. Stay away from a dealer Go find a decent body shop

Bummer

1. As Jon stated - go to an independent body shop for repair.
2. Install curb sensors - many SLKs and Corvettes have them.

I'm with JohnB... the dealer will just send it to "their" body shop (a lot don't even have in house people anymore...). In the mean time, clean the back side thoroughly (and gently), dry, then apply good old duct tape (lining up the two pieces).

Word of advice. Park well back from ANY curb, parking block - remember the SLK is a good 3ft shorter than just about any car, so you won't be sticking out!

PS you'd be hard pressed to find an SLK owner that hasn't scuffed his/her nose!
