How can I check if my suspension has been lowered

I have developed a very bad back and my journeys are becoming more uncomfortable.
I`ve been told my suspension has been lowered. A mechanic remembers that when he checked the vehicle over when I first bought it he saw black springs and if it had been lowered they would be a different color.
Is there a way I can check or measure the gap in the wheel arch or something.

Hope you are all well.
Kind regards,
Martyn..............wineprovider

Black springs won't tell you anything, if the gap is about one inch or less then its been lowered. Most of the time the ride will be very stiff as well.

Hard to tell from that angle, if you measure around a 2 inch gap then its not lowered.

The gap is definetly less than 2" so I`m going ahead and get some standard springs.
May I take this importunity to thank you for your help and input.

Martyn
