bad cat... replace or delete?

Recently noticed a faint odor of rotten eggs, guessing I have a month or two left on my cat. Has anyone been able to punch out the cat, and of so did it have any effect on performance positive or negative? Does it trigger the post cat o2 cel? Any diff in exhaust note? I don't have to worry about emissions on this car since its in the company name, and plan to upgrade pulley etc this spring so any small boost in performance, no matter how minimal, would be good... Plus the money saved not buying $500 cats would go a long way modding. I know all about the universal cats that can be welded in for 159.95... They're what dealers use to save money but only have about a 2 year life span, and I plan on keeping this car another 5-10 years.

the noise is horrific without cats iv just had to buy a midpipe with the two cats in because mine was very loud and raspy the garage said the cats had collapsed so I sourced a good second hand one and it now sounds nice again
