Odd wire on rear of stereo unit

Does anyone have any idea what the grey/yellow wire is on the top connector ?
Im ok with the others but the top one has got me

Judging by the size of my speaker wires i guess i have no amp as they seem quite chunky and prob go straight to door speakers? I have no rear speakers.

Thanks
Norman

On my 2003 SLK the top connector is for the phone stuff. Pretty much it's useless. I swapped the stereo and let it hanging in the back. :-)
But you do have an amp. It's located in the passenger's footwell :-) you only have twochannels coming out from your stereo but you have a lot of speakers :-) amp does all the job!
You should have 2 sub-like speakers in the back. 2 speakers in doors. 2 small buzzers in soors AND 2 speakers in the passenger footrest area! they're moubred into the side wall! I jyst recently discovered mine! :-)

Same thread states if there are no rear speakers then there is also no amp.

Well ive just checked my UK 320.
It has no amp and no rear speakers.

It simply has a head unit wired directly to the door speakers
