Question Engine RPM?

I have a 1998 SLK 230 and the engine RPM seems high to me. At 55 MPH it is 2500 RPM, @ 60 MPH it is about 2750 RPM. Does this sound right?

Thanks
Earl

My 1999 is about 2300 rpms at 60mph. Seems like your torque converter is not locking up. When I first get onto the highway and am accelerating I think I am at about those numbers till I settle into my standard 60mph.

1998s did not have a manual select mode. It has that awful gated shift column.
