fuel leve gauage never reads full=FIXED

2001 year model SLK with only 60000 miles. . . . . about a year ago i noticed my gas guage wound never go to the full mark when i filled up.. It always went to around 3/4 when I knew the tank was full. . . I called the dealership and their fix was replace the senders. . . talked to an independent repair place and that was their recommendation also. . I priced it out at around $1200 and figured for that , I could live with it. . . then I stumbled on a similar problem posted on the internet with another model MB. . . There was mention of sulfur deposits from the gas accumulating on the contact windings of the fuel sender in the tank. . .

The fix that the internet post suggested was running Chevron Fuel Injection with Techtron cleaner. . . I figured what the hell. . it's cheap so I got the large bottle for around $12 at the local part place. . .

I ran 1/2 the bottle in the first tank. . no change. . . ran the rest of the bottle in the next tank. . . The next time I filled up, the gauge is back to normal. . . I've run 3 tanks through now over 3 months and everything is back to normal each time. . works perfectly. .

Now try to tell me the dealer didn't already know this was the 1st thing to try and didn't bother to suggest it. . . sure reduces my faith in factory service advisers. .

Tried this to no avail...

I have tried a few bottles of Techron over the past year, but alas, the fuel guage problem still persists.

Did you search the R171 section for a fix other than the techron solution?
