Roof Help

Okay, changed the O ring of the hydraulic lock in the roof of my 2000 slk 230; from start to finish it only took 1.5 hours. I could not get the plug out of the pump to refill it so I removed the entire pump, loosened the clamp and removed the container which holds the fluid and cleaned it; filled it and awkwardly reassembled it without spilling the fluid. Level is good. While removing the panels to gain access to the pump in the right rear of the car I removed the bracket directly above the pump. Mounted to the bracket is a switch of some sort. Before I knew it I had pulled it in such a way that the two wired disconnected without the plastic clip; it remained attached to the switch. I could not determine which wire went where and Iím not certain what this switch is for? I put them back; ďuncertain of polarityĒ reassembled the car to a degree and ran the first test.
Boot opened quickly unlike any time Iíve ever seen it work; roof unlocked and lift-off! Half way back roof stopped and would not go any further; nor would it close. I killed the ignition and she sank into the boot. Re started the car and now when I push the switch forward seems the roof tries to sink deeper into the boot. I also have to check and make certain I didnít assemble the roof hydraulic lock in some reverse manner in relation as to how the linkage is tied together working the locks in the roof.
In order to button the car up I had to release the pressure at the pump, lift the roof out of the boot, push the boot down to close it, close the valve on the pump then hit the switch to roll the rear windows up and secure all locks for the roof and boot. I feel it may be something simple Iíve overlooked or assembles incorrectly but I have no leaks on any other cylinders, fluid level is good; it is the correct fluid from my local dealer. My switch is constantly lit red. Today I will disconnect the battery in an effort to clear any codes and try again but if this doesnít work I need help. When I first secured the car it worked but slowly, it took forever to open and close but it did it flawlessly. Once the roof lock blew completely and dumped fluid all over the head liner it would do nothing. I used the 35 dollar kit, didnít change the others but when things start pointing to other O ring failure Iíll tackle them at that point. I donít drive with the top down much at all but I want it to work correctly.
If you've tackled this fix and experienced some of my problems please let me know how you fixed it! I recently replaced the CPS and MAF, before that I installed new plugs. With the CPS the car no longer leaves me hanging in traffic, with the MAF no more check engine light and really good power! I modded my air box so the Supercharger wines quite lout but I like it. I thought I needed now coil packs but the MAF fixed everything. Iíll need new back tires soon J Iíll post pics and video of the air box if anybody cares to see and hear, let me know. Once I sort this roof matter Iíll turn my direction to the interior, need new leathers for seats and some plastic parts are broken but nothing major. This is a great site and Iíve learned a great deal of how to accomplish a lot on my own saving me hundreds of dollars. Iím surely going to upgrade my membership for this site has saved me so much. Thanks to all of you, mad Love!!!
