Reason for new supercharger?

Is there really any reason for this? There has to be since people a re-manufacturing them! Like this one.

There are a couple of nearly 'consumable' parts on the supercharger. MB will not sell these separately, instead, they will try and sell you a complete SC, hence people re-manufacturing them. You can by all of the parts individually direct frm Eaton and re build it yourself, saving hundreds of bucks.

My guess is after high mileage, the rotors to compress the air may be out of tolerance, and the clutch may be worn leading to compression losses? a remanufactured supercharger would be a plug and play repair, instead of complicated diagnosing...
