SLK 200, 1997 - rear-wheel drive

Hi,
I've just bought SLK 200, 1997 year and it's a great car. I really done some good bought, finally

I have just one question. When I try to "drag" or just to accelerate on highways; every shift is spinning my wheels, even when I drive 130 km/h (with 5 gear) and accelerate the wheels gets spinned.

Before I had Seat Ibiza with almost the same horse power and when you accelerate the "speed" was amazing but now with SLK the RPMH meter gets high but not the speed, almost like you would driving on snow

I never had rear-wheel drive but I don't think this is normal?

Thanks for any advice.

How many miles has the car done. Could the clutch be on the way out and slipping?

The description of the RPM rising and the speed not sounds more like a slipping clutch. If you were spinning the tyres you would hear them squeal and see smoke off them. Apply the handbrake hard on and try to drive off If the rpm rises and you donr move your clutch is shot

Spin the rears at 130kmh? I don't think even the SLR will do that.

Gotta be clutch.

Thank you all for replay.

But I figure out that there is not the problem in the clutch, but:

Sometimes (random) the ABS light is on, which means that (if i remember right mark) ETS is off, that's why wheels is spinning.

Does anyone have any experience why ABS would turn on/off?

Put your hand brake on hard. Hold the car on the footbrake with heel and toe on the accelerator and try to pull away with some revs on If the revs rise and you dont move is deffo the clutch If it stalls then it probably isnt

Ok I've changed the clutch a month ago but today I've got even bigger issue. When I've tried to drive my car it was not moving but the RPM is rising. Well it's moving but really really slow. The filling is the same as you would press the clutch and step on the accelerator.

Any idea what would be wrong?

sounds like your clutch is not engaging properly I think you have got a strip down job to do. Did you have the job done by a garage or do it yourself. Sounds like a problem with the pressure plate

I agree with JonB - definitely sounds like the clutch has not been installed properly, or the pressure plate is damaged.

OR - someone has slipped a V8 turbo engine under the bonnet !!
