Adjustable camshaft solenoid
I have some oil seeping from this solenoid and the connector is wet so I want to clean and reseal or maybe replace the solenoid entirely. It appears that the oil is seeping from both between the engine block/solenoid back plate and from around the integrated connector. The fact that I have oil around the connector tells me that I should probably replace the solenoid to have fresh internal seals.
Looking at the engine block now with the solenoid off, I ask myself: is it ok for the oil to seep into the solenoid housing in the first place? All posts I have read seem to focus on stopping oil from coming out of the solenoid. But should we rather focus on avoiding oil in the solenoid housing in the first place?
My apologises if this is a dumb question. I do not have much experience in this field.
