1998 SLK 230 hard top issue..........Won't go down

My car has code B1270 for the hardtop. The top activation only puts the front windows down and then quits. What activates the rear windows to lower?

Looks like you have a fault in one or more switches in the trunk.
BI270 Trunk lid "open" limit switch (S69/9) and left or right trunk lid "closed/locked" limit switch(S69/7 or S69/8) actuated simultaneously.
This is where the Top Switches are.

P.S. Thanks once again to Bazzle

Yeah I found the trunk lid open swithc S69/9 laying in the right rear wheel well. I re-attached it and it shows to be working when you activate it using STAR. Could those microswitches for the trunk be what is not lowering the rear windows? It just seems strange that the operation quits right after the front two windows are lowered, the next step is for the rear windows to lower correct? Seems like that may be my issue seeing how it isn't even getting far enough to detect if the trunk lid is open and that sort of thing

All the windows should lower together.
It may be the rear windows are not getting power, or a blown fuse.....

Do you know if that code I have could stop the function at the rear windows? I checked the fuse and it is fine. They look like a pain to get to to check directly at the motor

Are there any relays or anything that is tied into the rear windows? Are they hard to get to to see if they are bad, I just don't see both windows messing up at the same time. But as soon as my front windows lower the top switch starts blinking and nothing happens from that point. I read where some man said the K40 relay could cause top problems, but I thought it was just for fuel injection, secondary air injection....etc.

Got it fixed. I reinstalled the trunk open switch S69/9 and opened the trunk manually closed it hoping to resync the trunk lid closed switches on both sides and closed trunk . Ran it with my buddy's star and the codes cleared. Hit the top switch and everything works perfect. Its crazy how the trunk micro switches being out of align can still cause the rear windows not to lower. Thanks for your help

Top Problems

My top is stuck in the down position. I replaced the switch in the right wheel well with no results. I am not mechanically gifted so lay terms work best for me any suggestions?
