Heater not working.

I have just bought a 2001 slk 230, and upon driving away form the deal realised the heater didnt work. A little air comes out at 60mph+ but appart from that nothing.

Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? and how to fix it withought taking it in. Will it be expensive?

Many thanks,

Hi Batman

Congratulations on your new ride!

A few questions to narrow down your problem:
    1. Does your cabin heater fan work?
    2. Is the little air that you get in at 60mph warm?
    3. Does the engine temp seem to behave properly?
Irrespective of your answers to the above and the further actions to resolve your problem, I strongly suggest that you clean our/replace your cabin filter. This is done from the passenger foot well - easy DIY (do a search and you will find write-ups on how-to). While you are down there, it is easy to remove and inspect the cabinheater fan which is located right next to the cabin filter.

Keep us posted.
