How many quarts in transmission from transmission drain bolt only?

I am just doing a quick drain and refill on my transmission (not dropping the pan) . how many quarts to refill if I just drain it from the transmission bolt on a 2001 SLK230 ?

I saw some posts that said 4 quarts but not too sure as this seems alittle bit too much especially if only part of the fluid is drained

4 quarts is about right assuming you're talking automatic. However, why not remove a couple of more bolts while it's empty, remove the pan and change that nasty, dirty filter that is only about five minutes away? Make sure you use the correct ATF.
