Auto Dimming Mirrors

I have a 2001 SLK 320. It has the autodimming inside rear view mirror and the drv side dimming mirror. The inside mirror wont dime and both seem to give what I describe as double vision. Ant fixs for the double vison and ant houghts as to how to trouble shoot the inside mirror?

The main issue with the inside mirror is the lava lamp issue where some of the chemical resposible for the auto-dimming leaks out. You then have a two tone mirror and no dimming. I am not sure about the lack of dimming, but the power for the mirror runs up under the courtesy lights. You might want to pull the lights out and see if the connection looks solid.

You can get a rebuilt mirror for about $79.00 from Sybesmas in Holland Michigan and this will fix both issues likely. If you search on rearview mirror here and on Benzworld you will find many threads on the subject.
Hope you enjoy the car.
