Head unit advice

Im wanting to change the stereo and have seen this on eBay as Im looking for one with Sat Nav

Headunit 7098D 7" 1Din HD Car DVD/USB/SD/CD Stereo Player 3G Sat Nav GPS Radio | eBay

Will I need any adapters or will it be just plug n play ?

Any advice welcome or suggestions on alternatives, thanks in advance.

The easiest solution is to purchase an aftermarket installation kit. Crutchfield (USA) is one of the premier locations for such kits:

Car Stereo Installation at Crutchfield.com

Select the year of your car, model, etc. and go for it.

I changed the head unit in mine with a single DIN and it was plug and play. The car wiring harness is standard ISO connectors but I think you would need a GPS antenna for the satnav to work. I recommend In Car DAB Radio Aerials > Digital Antennae Aerials for DAB Car Radios for antennas.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but the advert that you linked has very poor use of the English language.

This usually means POS Chinese equipment.

Must admit I was thinking the same about the advert description and also the cheap price so you are probably right - POS

Think I will go for a decent single din unit and use my mobile for sat nav - just need to find a decent place to hold it. Was thinking of trying to do something with the slide out tray as it's pretty useless for anything.

I like this option but no GPS or Sat Radio

I like this option especially since you can get all the GPS and Sat Radio functions through your smart phone now.

Amazon.com : Kenwood KVT7012BT 7.0" WVGA 1-DIN DVD Receiver : Electronics
That seems a good option, like the mirror phone screen function. Have had quick search but can't find anywhere in UK that sells these. More searching required I think as there must be a UK equivalent.

more often than not the screen/fold out types foul the switches directly above on many cars.
They just run & angle back too much to be useful & block access to those switches/dials.
Just use ur phone & get a decent DAB radio ;-)

I think that's the best idea, new single din and use my phone for sat nav. Tempted with one of the cd slot holders for my phone. I'd like to use the top slideout tray to hold my phone but can't find any suitable holders to fit. Any ideas?

As for DAB, I'm not sure I would go for it tbh as I have it in my Mokka and I don't rate it, it doesn't sound as good as FM and it loses the signal far to often.

Main use will be Bluetooth music from my phone.

I had an aftermarket unit installed several years ago, but then the face plate got stolen, and it was crappy anyway, so I'm looking to get a new unit. Not sure what to get, so I'm interested in what others get. All I really need is bluetooth to stream everything from my phone, so hopefully there's a quality but inexpensive solution. Also interested in seeing what ppl do with their iPhones while driving. I'd love to see a solution involving the slide out drink holder area, since a) that was kinda crappy to begin with, and b) mine cracked/broke and is now totally useless...

Not using the slide out tray but, I got a phone mount from Mountek that fits into the CD holder. I think it's great and have purchased a few more for family and friends. It was either at ebay or amazon, also search this site for CD phone mount should turn up something.
