Pre-facelift Antenna

Hi

My 1999 car doesn't have the external antenna, rather I believe it's inside the rear bumper. Reception for radio is not the best and I also believe it's linked to the central locking? I'd like to improve the keyfob operating distance in readyness for my Smart Top installation .

Has anyone fitted a facelift antenna to a pre facelift car?

Thanks

Andy

Garage
Post-facelifts don't have an aerial either.
I have a Sony DAB in mine & used an inline signal booster (eblag for a tenner) to finally get the radio tuned in to stations i wanted.

European marketed cars must be different. In the US both pre and post facelift have external antennas.

you are correct the aerial is in the rear bumper, and runs to an amplier, just behind the first aid bag on the left.I have had trouble with mine as the 12v supply (fed from blue/white wire on head unit) is there sometimes only to go down to nothing for no apparent reason. So I fed the amp with 12v from the assc switch, and turned the key. There was a mild POP and odour of fried electrics. sigh
