Mystery box

Hello again everyone, I was just exploring the boot (trunk) area in my 97 slk230 kompressor and I finally found the jack and I pulled the jack moulded housing out and I saw a big piece of foam which at first I thought was a washing sponge, but as I opened it I found it contains something. It has electrics, it looks to have vacuum tubes x 2 and I would be pleased to find out what this thing is living in the boot of my car. Is it a CIA tracking device, did James Bond drive this car, did my wife have it installed to keep track of me? Seriously though if anyone has a clue please fill me in.

Its a PSE pump. It operates many items in your car like the door locks, gas cap lock, center compartment lock, alarm system, glove box lock .......
