aerial amp power problems

I have looked for yonks on here but cant find a definitive answer, I have replaced my radio (couldn't tune in to any stations) with a MF2199 player, this radio doesnt pick any stations either.CD player works. I have checked the aerial amp and there is no power getting to it, I have checked the blue/white lead on rear of radio and there is power there when you turn it on/off, so conclusion fuse blown, question is where is it?its not listed in the front or side fuse boards, and there is a small fuse box in the rear, but only 3 fuses here for the hydraulic pumps etc.
Has anyone any idea? its a 1998 SLK230

update

Well I have spent a happy hour or so on the workshop manual, not an easy thing to use, however it appears the power goes directly to the amp from the radio (no fuse or relay) via a connector Z28/18 which as far as I can gather is pin 5 on the radio. So i either have a break in the wire or a very poor earth on the amp.
Sigh

fixed,
having put 12v from the acc switch to the amp and quite a nice mellow POP and odor of fried electrics when i switched on,I replaced said amp. still no radio, further investigation reveled that there is only 1 thread in the core of the coax antenna cable, and mine had snapped in the plug which fits in the rear of the head unit.New plug and re trimmed cable later, I now have a working radio.....deep joy.

Thanks. Being an ex-electronics tech I enjoy a good troubleshooting story.

Any idea why it let the smoke out? Is it not safe to connect+12V to the amp?

I'm in the middle of replacing my HU....

You do get 12v from the blue and white wire from the head unit, but for no apparent reason I can see, mine started at 12v (read from the amp) then went to zero...so i thought i had a dickey supply, hence using the 12v from the acc cable, which turns out to be wrong and thats why my amp blew up...
So to sum up use the blue and white wire from the head unit to power the amp and if you don't receive any radio signal, look at the aerial connector on the rear of the head unit to check your wire strand hasn't broken, it is very difficult to see.

I put a different head unit in and it started working, so I assumed that my old head unit was bad... I'll check this before installing the new head unit. So the 90-degree connector is where it frayed?

No it didn't fray, it only has a single wire in the central core and it had snapped, but you could only just see it.where it joins the central pin.
