Vario Roof problem

I know that there is lots out about this problem but nothing seems to pan out.
Firstly I have a cracked windscreen and I need to open the roof to get it change otherwise it will fail the MOT. My first problem is when trying to turn the allen screw in the head rail/windscreen it will not turn ( any ideas please.
Next when trying to open the roof it gets as far as the boot opening and then the pump just runs nothing else. Ok yes there are lots about it, and I think I will compile I all into one and put out there but why when I plug in my Carsoft 7.4
I cannot get any fault codes the VD module in digital test tat everyoneraves about. I just get "all OK" now the roof does not move so I know that isn't true.
All suggestions really appreciated

Here is a link to a troubleshooting guide https://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-cla...leapyfish.html
that should give you a start at fixing it.

I've never heard anybody rave about that... Where?

If the roof is unlatching, my guess (extreme emphasis on guess) is the relay or a solenoid is not functioning, and pressure is not being switched to the two roof cylinders. There's no sensor to detect such a failure, and that's probably why there's no code.

Try replacing the relay first since it's cheap.

When trying to open manually , did you release the pressure on the pump in the boot first ?
