Good OBDII meter?

Hi. I'm looking to buy a OBDII meter. I see a few on amazon. Whats specific functions will I need? I understand a meter to do everything will be very expensive. Looking for one that can diagnose most if not all engine and transmission functions.

I searched and found a lot on cars from Europe and the fact they need an adaptor. I've looked at meters and see there are some the provide info on the transmission. Some provide info on the ABS system (expensive ones). I don't want to buy one that won't tell me the basics for engine and trans. And enable me to reset the codes.
