vario roof problem

Hi all, on closing roof , operated switch, motor started, windows down, boot opened, roof unlocked, moved rearwards lowered into boot then motor stopped. Had to manually put roof up. Checked fuses all ok, checked relay ok, then spent all day finding and removing all micro switches checked with multi meter all ok, now roof operation switch flashes when operated so i think there are stored faults to be read, the boot is not locked down and when the car is moved the switch goes constant red and warning audio sounds. Am i correct in thinking that the control unit under the bonnet is ok as the switch lights up on turning the ignition, so i can only assume there might be a break in the wiring harness can anybody add to my efforts so far thanks.

What is the current status of the system? Top up/down? Small windows up/down? Trunk open/closed? Trunk latched down? etc...

I be never seen a stored code stop the roof from subsequent operation.

There are two switches whose wiring flexes with trunk motion - the "roof latched to windshield" circuit and the "trunk lid opened in grocery mode" circuit. Check their state and wiring first. Any time the roof stops in motion is suspect one of these two.

I second that I have never seen a code halt operation

Hi I have had to manually put the roof up due to the onset of rain, but the system was left in this position- roof down, small windows down, boot back not locked with no hydraulic motor running, no clicking of relay, control switch not lit only when driven as boot moves slightly causing audible noise and constant red.

Did you lock the top in place with the Allen wrench? I would do that and confirm all your switches are placed correctly and that you have the luggage cover in place and then try to proceed with the closing routine.

Hi Problem sorted, found a damaged wire under the main vario control unit that goes to the box cooling fan, the control unit has sharp plastic sides and the wire was pressed into it, roof now works perfectly, thanks to all and i now know a lot more about the slk.
