Slow at the start but give it some time

Hello All,
Meaning to post this from March in regards to my 2001 SLK 320 V6 manual trans. Bought the car back in January, got some work done on it. On initial start up, I let it warm up for 5 minutes before I start going temp is a little north of 40 degrees F. Car is sluggish and hesitant to get going. My clutch pedal is also harder to press down. Is this normal? Once engine temp is close to 80 degrees F, car acts normal? I have been warming up the car a little longer since the spring/summer. This car is used 2 - 3 days a week ( or more if no rain is in the forecast and don't have pick-up/take kids anywhere).
