Removal of Windscreen pillar

Has any owner required the need to have a front windscreen (windshield) changed on an R170?
In doing so, it must be necessary to remove one, or both of the pillars. I guess they are bolted on from the inside of the door jamb.
The reason why I need to take one off is because I am noticing rust appear from behind one of mine! Must take it off this summer to treat with rust inhibitor, prime and respray it.
I am guessing a new screen was fitted before my aquisition and some of the paint was damaged behind.
Information would be useful please.

i have had the windshield replaced professionally and the pillar covers (tops) come off. they are held on with screws.

look here under windshield and /or roof for the part and maybe the location of screws
