Newbie, with a question

Hi,

I have a SLK which requires a minor repair to the front bumper. I have searched the site, google and many others and cant find the answer. So here goes.

Its a 2004 SLK 230. The front bumper has been scuffed, the image shows the location of the scuff.

Its below the tow eye bracket and above the arrow.

My simple question is: the damage is only on that bit, is it removable to repair or does the bumper need masking up to do the work.

Thanks in advance

Josh

Welcome from NE England. A good bodyshop will be able to repair that without anyone knowing there has been any damage - just get a few quotes and examples of their work. Now await JB's instructions . . . .

Welcome from London, and Woolly's spot on - it should be repairable. Not sure on the R170, but on the 171, that "piece" is part of the bumper cover - it's not a separate piece.

Thanks, its something i was going to try to do my self, but if it cant be removed then it may be a trip to the body shop. Anyone used a chips away style repair?

Hello, I do believe that you can get that part separate from the bumper cover. That is not the towing eye, but the headlamp washer cover, regards Damian.

PS - Welcome !!

Hi, its not the towing eye that is damaged, it the bump strip that goes round the bumper (on the U.S etd i believe that it has a orange lens on the side).
