Another P0410 Investigation

Hello dear Forum,

I am glad that i am member now.
I own a Mercedes Slk R170 200 my2002.
It has 120k km.Recently i got the infamous p0410 cel.
The car is running great but the cel has made me nervous.

I have read everything about the pump, the valves, the relay and i think i know what to check. But my problem is i cannot find the pump.
Could you help me and point me where this damn air pump is?

Also i took out the K40 and although everything is fine i found this odd connection pointed with the circle.Should this be there? It doesn't look right.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location/vehicle (model and year) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t already.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. Profile is NOT updated in your ‘garage’.

We’d like you to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already. https://www.slkworld.com/new-members-...yourself-here/

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member will address your question.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a datacard (options on your car) free.

Did you pull the error code with a generic code reader or did you use one designed for Mercedes? The reason I ask is that I used a generic code reader - in fact I had the guy at my local auto parts store pull the code for me - and I got P0410. I did the same thing you are doing, and almost tore my motor apart. Then I decided to just take it in for a service yesterday and it turned out to be something completely unrelated to the emissions. It was a faulty relay switch in the brake pedal.

Make sure you use the right device or you could be barking up the wrong tree.

You may be right... The man that checked the car should have used a generic reader. But the authorized service asks about 35$ to just read the code.

Anyway do you know where the air pump is?
I would like to be sure that it is working before i look for other things or visit mercedes service...

No I don't, which is why I took my car in and paid someone to figure out what was really going on. But maybe this will help:

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170...injection.html

BTW, no one will pull that error code for free unless they are using a cheap generic code reader. I would spend the $35.00 and find out what the real problem is before you waste any more time.
