Interior Light on SLK R170
I had to change one of the bulbs in my interior light today as I thought it had blown.
When I got the interior light out it was obvious it was not the bulb but the mounting the bulb holder twists into.
Both edges the bulb holder twists on to had disintergrated, the other bulb was just hanging in by one remaining edge.
I could not believe the cheapness of the whole unit and its poor quality.
I ended up super glueing the bulb holders in after I found a secondhand one which the seller wanted £175 for.
£175 for this cheap and nasty poor quality light, I then found out that a new one is over £400, what a joke.
The more I work on my car the more I find how nasty some of the parts are with regards to quality.
One of the biggest quality issues I think is the thickness of the paint, any thinner and there would not be any !
Compared to my Boxster of the same age there is no comparison, the Boxster is so much better with regards build and parts quality.
Having said the above I still like the car, it is just a shame the quality is a bit below par.
