Front Fog Lights died

Hi All,

I am looking for some pointers or advice or finding the fault with my front fog lights (the ones in the bottom of the bumper). They have just stopped working and I cannot find a fault anywhere, I have checked the fuse and that is fine, the bulbs were replaced about 9 weeks ago, the switch works for the rear fog lights.

If i turn the light switch and pull it out to the first position the indicator doesn't light but if i pull it to the second position the rear one lights and the lights work.

Its driving me nuts as the check bulb light is on and I spent hours trying to work out which bulb was faulty not thinking about the front fog lights.

Any bright ideas are appreciated

Trying to get this straight. When you pull it out to the second position, the front lights work as well as the rear?

per manual

the indicator on first pull doesn't light but are the front fogs on or not?
The indicator bulb should be on. If front fogs are now on, then the indicator bulb might be out.

Sorry guys the front ones don't come on at all. If I remember correctly the last time they worked the green indicator light came on with the front and amber with the rear.

Hi All, I'm resurrecting this thread as I have the same problem with my fog lights not working. All the other lights on my r170 work and the bulb out indicator is not showing. I have checked the bulbs and the fuse and all are OK. Basically nothing happens when I pull the light switch out to the first stop. No fog lights and no little green light next to the switch. Rear fog lamp works OK on second click with appropriate warning light on the switch.

Before I start pulling everything apart, is there a common cause for this problem? I'm thinking earth connection or relay problem, but have no idea where to look yet as I have only just got the car.

I would have thought must be a relay or switch but apparently it is more complicated than that. See this thread below:
