White milky substance on dipstick

I checked my oil today and I noticed a little blob of white milky substance at the top of the dipstick. Also down the length of the dipstick was little water droplets. Oil looks clean.

I only use the car in good weather now so I'm hardly using it at the moment. It isn't using hardly any coolant although it seems it be using a little more oil than usual but I am not 100% sure

I did run the car for 1500 miles with a broken thermostat

Any ideas? - is it the head gasket?

sounds like coolant leak…not good…head gasket quite likely an issue...

if the oil itself has not turned milky then you have caught it before any damage is done. you have trace amounts of water in the form of vapor in the crankcase. this would indicate head gasket is starting to give out. look at the inside of the oil fill cap, the highest point in the motor. should be seen there also.
don't drive it unless its to the shop!

The oil filler cap is clean no residue or water droplets

Should I get it investigated ASAP

Absolutely!! I assume it is a 200? Then at least you only have to pull one head. Get it to a shop you trust with expertise in MBs if not specifically SLKs.. As soon as possible.

As said above.. the only trip it should take is to the shop.

I wouldn't worry if its running fine and not overheating head gasket failure will 99% of the time pressurise the cooling system until it blows a hose or radiator .you say you only use the car occasionally I bet its just a little condensation that haven't had a chance to burn off take it out for a run at least a good 20 miles or so then dip it again if its then clean (which I think it will be) alls fine. if your reluctant to drive it call a mobile mechanic to do a sniff test on it will tell you if there's any combustion gasses in the coolant. I would be more concerned that your loosing a little coolant probably nothing more than a drip at one of the hose joints or it could be the waterpump gland if its that it will be dripping near your bottom pullys

White milky substance

After cleaning dipstick I went on a 105mile round trip. I checked the oil and coolant last night and both looked ok. The only thing to say was that the dipstick had water droplets along length of stick.

The car since I have owned it always maintained a steady water temperature at 90deC except when I drove it for 1500 miles with a broken thermostat.

It doesn't blow white or blue smoke from exhaust

I think I may just get it checked out
