Normally $58.00 for licensing and that's it, but because the Dawg has personalized plates, I think that will be closer to $100.00 now. But that's it, no other taxes or fees here in Ohio, in my county at least. I know the Cleveland area has emissions testing, I'm pretty sure, I don't know if that costs or not. Insurance for the Dawg runs about $550.00 per year
In the UK we pay between about £200 - £500 on road fund licence, anything from about £150 to several thousand (depending upon age and driving record ) on insurance, and about £4 per gallon tax on fuel
The exchange rate is about £1 = $1.5634 at the moment.

At roughly $3.20 a gallon here currently, I never look at the gas tax. The way prices flux around here, I was was paying $2.40 with my 0.30 cent discount a couple of weeks ago, I just go pump the gas and think what a racket! I still remember the days when I first started driving and it was 0.27 cent a gallon, and when the stations had "Gas Wars" I'd see it for 0.19 cent a gallon.
I keep detail records as follows for one year. Currently showing 71k on the clock.
property tax = $202
county fee = $30
registration = $30
personal plate = $30
Insurance year = $800
Gas = $1,534 (miles 10,237, gallons 467.45, avg cost per gallon $3.28, filled up 33 times, cost per mile $0.15, miles per fill up 310.21, gallon per fill up 14.17)
Rear tires = $650
service A = $201 (Dealer)
rear brakes = $251 (indy ceramic pads)
Miscellaneous items = $50
Phone app makes the above figures possible and simple to do.
I did not include insurance, but since I have other cars insured the SLK only added $185 per year for liability and collision/comprehensive on SLK. Worth every cent to drive SLK.
Tax: none (whatever the type and age of the vehicle)
Gasoline (95 RON): 1.47 Euro per litre ($7.60 per gallon)
Insurance: around 300 Euro per year
Vehicle inspection (MOT): 60 Euro (every two years)
I think it's 78$ for registration here, and $40 for emissions every other year (which they don't actually test, they plug into the OBD2 port and look for major codes). I won't get into gas tax...
$230 - Registration due in March, probably pay it, and drive it for a few more months before my brother takes it in the summer.
$417 - 1 yr insurance
$25 - Emissions test every other year
$85 - Yearly oil change from the dealer
$120 - Brake flush every other year from the dealer.
I'm in Florida and we pay roughly $114 a year to register our '02 SLK and '10 GLK and pay about $600 a year for insurance on both. We probably drop about $2400 a year on fuel for the two cars as well. SLK obviously gets better mileage and is driven less that the GLK, as well as has a smaller percentage of other cost due to its age.
My SLK and my Honda Odyssey cost the same to insure, the Honda is a bit newer. My Acura MDX cost the most to insure, more than my 911, which doesn't make sense to me.
Well in the crazy country that Greece is where the government hunts every last euro it can find in our pockets, I pay 665 euros (almost 800dollars ) per year on annual registration because it's a 2 litter , another 360euros for annual insurance and the price of gasoline is 1,7euros per liter that's why I modified my slk to LPG which costs just 0,89euros per litter.
Also if my car was les than 10 years old I would have to pay extra 400eros per year as a luxury life tax... How cool is my country! Own a 10year 2 litter Mercedes and suddenly tou must be a Forbes wealthy guy living la vita LOCA...
Here in Georgia, USA, I pay NOTHING for my tag and zero for property taxes. My insurance with Allstate for a year of full coverage is right around $325. Yes, I live way out in the boonies a long way from Atlanta or any metro and YES the no tax stuff is because I am a 100 percent disabled vet.........God bless......Dennis
You guys are lucky, my country has the second highest car prices in the whole world.
The people pay thru their nose to own car, let alone Mercedes sport cars !
I just spent USD 25,000 to get a 12 years old SLK 230. The new SLK 250 (1.8 turbo) cost USD 90,000 here
Annual tax for the car is USD 212 but insurance strike me at USD 490 per year.
