No ideas folks? Oh well I guess I'll have to take it to the shop.

The other thing that happened twice yesterday is that when I started it the accelerator wasnt working properly... turned the car off and re -started and it was fine but is that normal??
Oh and my headlights are full of condensation- how do you get at them to clean them?

Faulty accelerator is NOT normal. Looks like you got an electrical gremlin. I would take a trip to the dealer and get it diagnosed.

Clearing fogged headlamps and/or fog lamps.
1. Drive the car into the workshop and connect the exhaust extractor. In dry weather, this can also be performed outside.
2. Start the engine and switch on the low beam + high beam, front fog lamps and hazard warning lamps.
3. Leave the vehicle in this state for 20 minutes.
4. Switch off all lights and the engine.
5. If the headlamps and/or fog lamps are completely clear, the observed fogging or water is normal. If not, the headlamp or fog lamp is not functioning correctly and should be replaced.

Hi folks

Thanks for the info. The odometer is just blank, the other lcd screens are working, clock etc. I have an owners manual.
I know with the accelerator its fly by wire so I can understand why that might be faulty.
I dont understand why the lights should fog up though- how is that normal? So you have to sit there with the engine running for 20 minutes everytime it rains?

Thanks for that- its just the lefthand one that seems to be the worst, I reckon theres something wrong with it- no puddling just loads of moisture on the inside of the lense,no cracks either. Has anyone come up with a kind of fix? I know you cant seal it totally but this light of mine does not seem right to me and I'd prefer not to have to replace it as the reflector etc all look fine.

Just an update on my tempremental accelerator. It's done it twice more but get this- it only seems to do it if I start the car- the cruise control has been left on (or I inadvertantly trip it -dunno if it cancels when ignition is off) and then put the roof down. If I switch the engine off and on it's fine. Seems something to do with this sequence- start up, cruise control, roof down...

Gas pedal. Does it seem to happen more often in the morning or after you first start the car. If so eventualy it will get worse and your check engine light will come on. You will then have a code PO 120 TPS Pedal position sensor.

Mine did that for several months until i changed it out. It is located on the side of the gas pedal itself.

Mine when it went bad reminded me of stepping on a rubber band. you push the gas and it would slowly come up then sort of take off. A restart would clear it most times.

Update on gas pedal. I've narrowed it to when I put the roof down. Sequence is - cold start, roof down, gas pedal will only rev very slowly. Switch off- restart- all good. Never happens when roof is up. Also the handbrake does not need to be on- wonder if this is a clue.

Update on bonnet stay. I used the full open method which worked till there was a thump- the bonnet I thought was gonna hit me in the head but it stopped at the lower position then I saw fluid coming out of the bottom of the piston. Just use it locked in the first postion now but it's a hassle due to needing three hands, one to hold the bonnet , one to click the stay and one to hold the inner ram still so it doesnt travel up with the whole unit and therefore allows it to click into place....
