Practical 100k Service recommendations (slk320)

I am still a little ways away from hitting 100k, but since I bought my car this past spring with about 85k miles and I have hardly any service history. I thought I would start a thread and solicit recommendations as to what major (and even minor things) beyond regular service that you guys recommend, or wish you had done at or around 100k miles.

Understanding I have an SLK320, and this thread is geared toward the 3.2l V6 there are some things I imagine might cross over to the 2.3l.

Since buying my car I have flushed tranny and diff and replaced filter, gaskets and tranny mount. I have done all the gaskets on the top end of the engine and replaced the alternator and serviced the belts.

On my list at or before that magical 100k point are the following, but again I am looking for suggestions as to issues which others have run across that maybe they had wished they had done preemptively.

What I plan on doing:

**Replace plugs wires and coils
**Fuel Filter
**Flush radiator, replace coolant system hoses and Thermostat
**replace engine mounts
**replace shocks and springs
**replace suspension bushings
**replace brake pads, rotors and hoses, (incl. fluid)
**flush/service hydraulic fluid for top
**clean/service fuel injectors
**replace tires

Having looked through the MB service schedule a lot of this is as needed, or should have been done at some point in the previous 80k miles, but since I have no records I figured the 100k mark would be a good goal to work for. Along with working to refreshen the interior and the whole car to celebrate the 100k milestone.

With the tire replacement get a 4 wheel alignment.
Replace seal in the front top cylinder before it starts to leak and mess up the headliner.

This is the service manual for our 320's. You've got a great checklist so far, but I'm not sure if you've already seen this or not. It starts on page 17.

Thanks, I hadn't seen this particular list but had a similar one I was working off of.

Based on this list above, has anyone had issues with drive shaft (says check drive shaft flex) or similar due to something failing after 100k miles and what about steering gear bolts? Not sure what this is but anytime someone mentions a bolt needing to be tightened it sounds scary.

Most everything seems to be related to checking for leaks or misaligned parts. I have read in other forums that the 3.2l 6-cylinder engines are pretty bullet proof. Would guess the usual wear and tear on rubber and plastic parts up through about 200k, then after that one might start worrying about internal parts.

For me, other than a small oil pan leak I have hit all the usual leaking spots and am fairly comfortable with where the car is at this point in its life as far as the preventative stuff. After a radiator flush and replacing of the plugs and cleaning fuel system... short a major issue, I'd love to toss my resources at more comfort and cosmetic stuff.

Even after almost 9 months of ownership I am still not comfortable using this car for anything more than a commuter car and short back road rides on the weekend. But I am guessing I will get more comfortable as I get to know it and can check off my list of repairs many of the more major things that I have no records for being done previously.

From your list:

**Flush radiator, replace coolant system hoses and Thermostat
**replace engine mounts
**replace shocks and springs
**replace suspension bushings
**replace brake pads, rotors and hoses, (incl. fluid)
**flush/service hydraulic fluid for top
**clean/service fuel injectors
**replace tires

Nearly all of the above don't need to be done unless they show signs of being worn. Coolant on your car I think is still on a 3 year interval. Hoses and thermostat likely don't need to be done unless there are signs of an issue. Engine mounts probably do need to be done if they are original. Shocks and springs - probably a waste of money unless there are issues. Same with brakes and tires. Brakes need to be done when they are giving you problems or are not within spec - measure the rotors before you replace. You've got brake pad sensors to tell you when the pads are due. Brake fluid is an every two year service requirement. Injectors probably a waste of money too. If you are showing signs of fuel system issues, maybe a bottle of Techron will fix it.

No need to just throw money at your car unless you have nothing better to do with it.
