Bilstein Shocks Which of Three????

Bilstein offers three shocks for my 1998 SLK230 R170

Mono Tube Gas Sport
Mono Tube Gas Heavy Duty
Twin Tube Gas Touring Class

The Sport and HD are the same price, the Touring Class is more expensive, about $157 more for a set of four.

I am replacing OEM shocks marked H0, with just under 200K miles on them.

I want the best ride for normal street and interstate driving. I have a different race tuned car, this is a daily driver.

Should I choose the Touring Class or HD?

Thanks for your help. BTW I have never see anyone comment on the Touring Class shocks for the SLK230.

Hey gringott,

I replaced my stock struts with the Bilstein HD struts. I ordered mine through tirerack and consulted one of their experts. I also went with H&R sport springs which offer a 1.5" drop in ride height. Their expert recommended that I didn't need a stronger strut with that little of a drop.

Hope this helps,
Nick

Nick thanks for the input. I am most likely going with the HD's. I am not lowering however. I just wondered if the 'touring' were better due to the price, but I think it is to price gouge anyone who wants OEM parts. I found info on Bilstiens page that says mono tube is better than twin tube, so I guess that's the answer.
