Slk 230 cabin filter replacement

SLK 230 2004

Was getting funny odor in cabin. Replaced filter and smell vanished.

The replacement is similar to this helpful post for the 350, but different enough to make another post.

I replaced filter with this Bosch Charcoal Air filter

Tools needed:

Phillips screwdriver

Instructions:

1. Go to passenger side
Attachment 15957

2. Locate the back panel with several holes

Attachment 15958

3. Locate and unscrew the right screw

Attachment 15959

4. Then the left...

Attachment 15960

5. Gently let the front panel swing down

Attachment 15961

Locate the cabin filter cover on the left. (it is a slim rectangle closest to center console) Slide the front clip off towards you and the back clip off away from you. Be sure to hold the cover when removing the 2nd clip.

Attachment 15962

Remove cover and gently guide/ pull the filter out.

Attachment 15963

Remove air filter noting its position. Replace with compatible filter

Attachment 15964

Installation is reverse of removal.

Enjoy.

I just finished doing this and used this as an amazing guide. One helpful hint: after you take the cover of the cabin filter off, be careful of falling debris. The moment i took it off a mountain of dust and debris fell onto my face.:banghead:

Thats nearly nothing compared to what I had. The old owner probably never changed the one in my car, hence why I put up the little warning
Cheers!

Ouch... Well, mine was changed 2 years ago, and I always clean my drains. May be that's why it was relatively clean

You must be a contortionist to get your head all the way under there. Changed mine yesterday but didn't have your experience.
