Wanted - working CARSOFT 7.4 Multiplexer
Mine has just died so I am looking for a cheap replacement. Ideally just the multiplexer but complete hardware bundle OK if price is right :-)
Anyone got a working Carsoft 7.4 Multiplexer?
Mine appears to have died...
It used to work pretty well using the genuine Carsoft Ultimate Home V12 software. However, this week I just get a communication error for whatever I try to do.
Nothing has changed in terms of the ancient laptop I am using but what I do notice now is that neither the "MCU" or "K" lights on the multiplexer light up. I am sure they used to come on the minute I plugged into the 38 pin diagnostic socket.
If you have a working multiplexer can you let me know when these lights come on. Mine are always off even with the engine running.
So far I have:
1) Checked the fuse for the diagnostic port (number 13) - OK
2) Checked I can read engine codes with a cheap Autel handheld OBD tool using a 38pin to 16 pin OBD converter cable - works fine
3) Tried using the multiplexer with its 16 pin OBD lead plus the OBD to 38 pin converter - still dead. I had hoped I might at least be able to read ME codes and just had a dodgy cable.
4) Re-installled the software on the laptop - no difference.
I am now hunting around for another laptop as a final test but fear my multiplexer is dead. I have opened it up and there are no obvious dry joints - it looks good but just doesn't work.
Quick update. I managed to resurrect an old Windows Vista laptop (no laughing please) that belonged to my youngest daughter. All software installed fine and I also installed a PMCIA serial port card successfully. Sadly testing seems to confirm that my CARSOFT 7.4 multiplexer (a Chinese clone) is dead as the results are exactly as with the previous Siemens Fujitsu WinXP laptop.
The hunt for a replacement commences...
