How easy are these to install?
I read on another thread that there should be a socket in the glovebox to just plug it into, but my 2005 200K does not have any connections in the glovebox?

Normski - it's behind the glovebox if you've never had one installed - worse case is that you will need a couple of pieces of fiber optics, but I've yet to see a car without it.

Thanks, but how easy is it to get behind the glovebox?

I am very new to all this SLK mod stuff?

It's a pain in the arse because everything is pretty tight, but it's not impossible. I'll dig around and see if I have any pictures.

Caveat here - my SLK is a LHD, so I'm making a bit of an assumption. Can you open your glovebox, and take a couple of pictures of the inside, specifically the portion closesest to the center of the car?

Looks good - and the mounting "holes" are all there. I'm wondering if the plastic trim pieces are the same between the RHD and LHD models - I suspect they are not, but I'll try and have a dig around later.

I know that when I took this out, I just tucked all of the wires back into the holes and it looks like Normski's glovebox. I am sure that the wires are right inside the holes!

Let me know! I can send everything including the holder to put in your glovebox!

Normski - the power cable is secured to the wiring harness under the glove box with black tape - it's a three pin cable that looks like the one attached on the left.

The MOST fiber *may* be looped behind the glovebox, or in the footwell electronics bay (COMAND installed cars), or not included at all. Everything I can find says it's included in the '05's. If not, it's a 15 quid piece from the dealer. I *think* I have one that's long enough that I'll sell for the same price if you need it.

You should have the car SDS coded to reflect the fact that the changer is present. MOST with A20 head should really not require this - figure 25 - 50 quid if you ask the dealer to do it, an independent with SDS would probably be less.

If you decide you want 617's unit, I'm headed over to the states for Feburary, and would be willing to carry it back with me - not sure if it's worth the savings / duty, but thought I'd offer.

I suspect that her trim pieces will not fit on a RHD car, but I can't find any notes anywere for RHD specific pieces. Worse case is you would have a couple of exposed wires..

- Not sure - some of the "newer" changers would play MP3's some of the older ones would not. I don't have a reference of models vs mp3 capability, so...

is this still up for grabs or have you sold it yet ?

I am picking up my 350 on Saturday and I know it does not have the changer. Its an '06 and has the DVD Navigation so I assume this would work okay
