reversing sensor mirror

I have a brand new wired reversing sensor mirror kit for sale. If you have seen mine and Curro's threads you will know what this is. This is the wired version as Corro adapted and fitted. I bought it then changed my mind and went for the wireless version.

It owes me 18 so thats all I am asking plus a bit of Postage at cost. To make it work like mine and Curro's is just a case of following our threads.

First come first served

Its a bit involved but what Curro did and I copied was to buy the kit as seen in my pictures and dismantle the mirror that comes with it as its a clip over thing and is a bit ugly. We then dismantled the SLK OEM mirror and cut the glass from the reversing one to fit the SLK housing. Once its all fitted and working you get an LED readout in the top of the mirror that tells you how far you are from an obstruction behind you and if its to your left or right or in the middle It start warning at about 1.7 mtrs down to zero and also has the audible warning as well.
see the last picture above.

To get the full run down read the thread that Curro started . The only difference between his and mine is he used the wired version like the one I am selling whereas I bought a more expensive wireless one

As I know that JonB no longer has the mirror , I thought you might be interested in this ! The finished item looks and works great and well worth the effort IMHO ..

JonB this is a cracking mod. Always wandered what it meant on your signature by LED wireless reversing mirror but this is top notch. Seems like something that should come with the car!? I'm very tempted, but I am a bit useless at being delicate. How did you cut the new mirror glass to the same shape?! And also does the bumper have the positions of the sensors marked or did u just make an educated guess?

Cheers mate

Cutting the glass is a bit tricky if you havent used a glass cutter before. I made a pattern from the SLK glass by laying strips of overlapping masking tape along the mirror. then cutting round it. Carefully peel off the pattern to use as a template. But it needs trimming down a bit otherwise the new mirror will come out oversize. You stick the pattern over the sensing mirror making sure its central then go round with the cutter. Then you score in straight lines across at a tangent and snap the pieces of carefully. You do end up with a bit of a rough edge. A rough oil stone or a diamond file will take the worst off and as long as you stuck to the pattern the edge of the SLK surround will hide and rough bits.

The bumper doesnt have any external marks but inside there is the foam impact cushion and there are cutouts where the sensors would be fitted by the factory. So you can put a small pilot drill through from the back before you use a hole cutter from the front

Ahhh I don't know if I would trust myself in regards to the mirror cutting to be honest. Like I say I'm not the most delicate person. It looks really good though. Well done mate

Think I will try the parking dynamics one instead. Don't have to be as careful

I have a set of black sensors sitting here doing nothing and the readout pod that sits on your dash. I also have a metallic blue set as well. It would be a simple matter to spray either set to match your car. Your welcome to them for the price of the postage

I think its a complete set up but wired not wireless so you would have the job of feeding the lead from the sensor control box through to the read out pod

I am about 3 miles from J21 of the M1 just outside Leicester

The best way I found for smoothing the edges after the straight cuts is with a sanding wheel , fixed to my bench grinder ! IMO well worth the work , as it looks great in the car !!

Manny , if you want to buy a mirror set , sending it to me ( can be done directly to save you posting it here) and are willing to pay the postage from Spain to the UK to get it to you , I'm willing to cut it down for you , I've done a few now , but obviously I can't guarantee it won't break !

This sounds tempting. That would be awesome of you! Then it would just involve me replacing the original mirror and obvs drilling the bumper and fitting the sensors?!?

Ill send you a PM. Thanks for your help guys. And JonB I may well take you up on that if this does not work out!!

If you go for the wireless version it saves you running a cable all the way to the mirror from the control unit
