Angry part ex value AMG SLC 43

well i did expect the price to fall as our SLC 43's do not seem to have much love

the part ex value I have managed to get is £25K on my car which just has shy of £10K of options on it

what is happening out there as prices seemed to have dropped like a stone !

Very little, if any, consideration given for options when it come to P-exing.

Perhaps being in the last year of selling our models, it has killed interest all the more.

It also depends on:
What you px against.
What sales are like at that dealership.
Patience.
Full valet before asking.

The reality is that the used car market in the U.K. is now dictated by the car buying company's like "we buy any car" and similar .
The dealer that gave you the px price knows there's a 99% chance you'll get no more than their offer as they've based it on the car buying company's valuation , another dealer may better it slightly to buy your business but you'll pay for it elsewhere down the line . Even private buyers use the car buying company's as a baseline , but most are scared off by the lack of comeback on what is still an expensive purchase and the fact that most will still need to finance the car in some way , so most half decent cars end up going through an auction ," we buy any car "are part of British car auctions .
It's been a very clever move by those companies wether it was intentional or it just swung that way by natural progression.
As for the prices of 55s holding up , if you offered one to the car buying company's they'd probably low ball you even more , as would a dealer in a px deal . It's a case of selling when you need to and moving on or putting it on the private market and waiting for the right buyer , they may come along tomorrow or it may be next year .

I am going to keep my SLK55 but if I had some spare cash I would be more than happy to buy an SLC43 AMG to share the garage.

Some observations about the pricing of the SLC series. Here in the USA the most of all used SLC's 2018-2018-2019 are sold by dealers. Very few are being sold via a "private party" sale. Private sales of these models are very hard to find. Private sales provide the best value in purchasing on these 2017-2018-2019 SLC models.

General sales across the USA and Canada appear to be quite slow and weak and the number of cars sold per year is very small, especially when you see the actual data. See attached. Monthly sales clearly show a trend downwards.

I assume the price values are very dependent on geographical location. For myself, the MB SLC 300 purchase has "no" disappointments of any kind. If properly maintained, and properly cared for, I am certain future values down the road may hold firm. For now, considering current North American Sales, USA MB dealers will need to start discounting much deeper in order to move inventory.

The sales results may be quite surprising to many, on how poor they really are for this series or Model SLC 300 or SLC 43 AMG

It has come to the point the SUV world is crushing sales of these types of cars. Now add in the elimination of the SLC Class in its entirety after 2020, makes the SLC a "orphan car".

Is there a future value from a collectors standpoint? Hard to tell, and only time will tell, but for many of us SLC owners, time is fading for increased values. I personally don't have 30 or 40 years for these models to become a classic.

As for the market here in the USA. I purchased my 2018 SLC 300 w Red Art Edition options (about $8100), with 929 miles on 5/25/2019. The 1st owner owned the car for since purchased new on 9/2017.

The MSRP was $59,000 (Sticker Window). In addition, to OEM the vehicle 4Yr 50K mile warranty, the 2018 had the 4Yr 40K mile Pre-paid Service Plan Service A Service B, Service A, Service B, and an extended warranty out to 9/2024 for 7 years or 75,000K Miles via MB.

My price was 42,500 all inclusive. No dealing with a automobile dealership. I searched for months and could not find any SLC 300 across the USA with this ultra low mileage, in mint showroom condition, with the Pre-paid MB Service Plan and MB ELW Plan for 7yrs or 75K miles at this price.

There are some buys to be found. At the present time, very few MB dealers across the USA will not reduce prices below 6%-7% of the MSRP. I tried very hard to find a dealer on a new 2019 who would discount 10% off MSRP. I could find no takers.

Bottom line, we buy these cars for the pure enjoyment of the brand and model. A car is never an investment. If you can buy the right, the original owner will suffer the first 2 yrs of depreciation. Then after 3 yrs, the depreciation rate will level off at a much lower percentage downward each year.

For what I got and what I paid, I am a happy 1st time MB owner. I have owned a Porsche 981, Corvette C7, Jaguar XKR, Camaro SS, and this SLC 300 has a mix of all these other cars I have owned.

I am 100% satisfied, and will enjoy the SLC 300 as much as possible. Now I just need to get out an out some miles on this baby, especially on some nice mountain roads.

Have fun SLC/SLK owners, and don't worry about car values. Just enjoy what we have...... that others wish they had.

We own a beautiful work of automobile craftsmanship and mechanical technology.
