Thumbs up SLC Airguide; 'Wiring' on windscreen and Heated washer

Hi SLC / SLK Owners

New SLC arrived last week and I have 3 questions (so far!):

1. I ordered Airguide (flip out plastic deflectors - that I can't reach when seated as I'm too short and my seat is on MAX forward setting) and have not been able to find the fabric wind deflector (should be in the boot). Am I right in assuming the Airguide REPLACES it?

2. What is the 'wiring' on the windscreen? I'm assuming it's NOT a heated windscreen? My husband says it's the aerial (for the radio or sat nav).

3. What is and how does the Heated windscreen washer system work? I just LOVED the heated windscreen on my old Evoque - but an MB Salesman told me that Mercedes can't use the heated windscreen 'patent' as it's owned by Land Rover!!

Thanks for any replies.

Mary

Can't answer the air glide but your husband is right about the radio and satnav - the heated windscreen washers is the nozzles being kept warm to prevent freezing

Yes, just flip them down and leave them in place. You will, tune them out of your rear view very quickly.

It is the radio and phone antennae. They work pretty well.

It's just the washer nozzles that are heated. If you want hot water search for 'heat shot' on eBay. Ł80 plus fitting and that melts the ice very quickly.

The dealer is wrong about the patent. It expired quite some years ago and heated windscreens are now found on many cars. But not Mercedes.

On our SLK 250, the Airguides replace the fabric deflector. You apparently get one or the other. Ours doesn't even have any way to install the fabric deflector; no slots or such. I'm guessing the SLC is the same.

Are you talking about the traces on the windshield at the bottom? If that is it, it could be heated windshield where the wipers are. I know of several cars I had that were that way. It looks just like the rear defogger, and antenna lines, but is for heating the wiper area so you don't get them frozen to the windshield. My 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Limited had them, and a mechanic scratched one of the traces off when replacing an inspection sticker.

Sadly not. Just antennae.
