Nürburgring 2018

DAY 1:

I had a couple of weeks vacation still left and me and my current gf decided to match one week together and make a roadtrip once again.

At the begining.

Naantali, Finland harbour. My SLK got into good company. Couple of ML63's in german plates.

Off we go.

Hard in cabin ouh yeah.

Finnfellow was kind of cargo ship that allso accepts travelers with cars and campers. Usually evening food is delicious but this time I was disapointed big time.

DAY 2:

Morning view from our cabin. Waiting for breakfast gong.

.
After a hefty breakfast it was time to hurry up into car deck. Boat was about to arrive into Kapellskär, Sweden harbour. Btw, breakfast was excellent.

8am at the morning roads were quite empty. It was easy task to drive from Kapellskär around Stockholm into E4 highway.

I set the cruise at 140kmh / 87mph.

All the travelers round here know these as a land marks of the E4 but what comes to aeroplanes I dunno anything.

After a while I got bored and set speed into 152kmh / 95mph. Speed limit was 110kmh / 69mph.

First pit stop was a lunch break at Brahus, side of the Vettern lake.

GF wanted to take a closer look that old castle.

Manhole covers in Sweden are strange. Why they have to be convex? Why not flat?

After several hours of driving we approached west side of Sweden.

Just before we checked in into hotel we wanted to go visit Mölle. Its small place by the sea.

At Kulle light house. Asian dude backed into picture and photo bombed it. Pity that gf didn't take picture when he realized what happened and we all laughed.

And yes of course I had the picture of SLK.

Nice little Swedish village.

Höganäs Hamnkrog. Verry good food.

Restaurants parking space.

I dropped the roof.

Big anchor.

Modern apartments. I really don't know why I took the picture. I just like that kind of buildings and living.

Great post/tour guide

One word of advice: I NEVER post my speeds online, especially when they're faster than posted
We do have police as members ya know

Just a heads up

Domed manhole covers vs flat? So there HAS to be a lot of debris to clog them. Domed-->not so much.

Photo bomb--> extremely easy to get him out of the pic. PM me if you like

And that restaurant: I LIKE it when beer is INCLUDED in the meal

Nice!

Apartments? Led Zep fan? Vol4.

Great update.

I figure dome covers was something to do with snow.
As they don't have them in Finland, I guess not.

DAY 3:

It was only about 100km drive from Höganäs to Öresun bridge. The bridge that connects Sweden and Denmark. Can bee seen on far away in horizont.

To Denmark and Kobenhavn.

7,8km of bridge. It's a 4,8 in miles.

Denmark!

There is awfull lot of bicycles in centrum of Kobenhavn. They have their own lanes and even trafic lights.

Christiania, the freetown. It's a interesting place to visit. Weed smoked everywhere.

Back to the land of rules and organisation, kind of.

After a smoke has passed away from me and after good wok lunch we continued our trip. Time to pay bridge toll.

Nice scenery.

Nice sports car. I would say Renault but not sure.

Germany at least.

Hamburg is industrial city.

And lots of tunnels.

Finaly we got in Göttingen city and checked in into hotel. It was time for late dineing and some drinks. We deffinetly needed them.

Hotel was interesting experience. Booking'dot'com showed it like spa type hotel but right away we discovered it is specialy for elder people. Special toilets, special electric motor beds, guard rails, wheel chairs, panic buttons, etc. It didn't bother us at all but when booked the hotel back home there wasn't any info about this. Funny.

DAY 4:

Excellent breakfast with elder people. Everybody was so polite. After that we headed to local pond, Göttinger Kiessee. It was nice place to sit down relax and spend some time before we headed into autobahn.

It was hot day.

Temperature just kept rising. Thank god ac was working like champ. Alltho sun was bursting so hard tru windows that we had somehow hot.

After several hours of hot autobahn driving we arrived into legendary Nurburgring. Long time no see... It was 2011 when I was there last time with my Mustang.

Mainstrip.

Misha Charoudin aka Boosted Booris's place.

Parked the car and lets see whats going on.

Lexus.

It's started to gather cars from localy and round Europe, just before gates opens to track. An this hapens allmost every day. Weekends are busyest.

Moneyshot. Had to pay 9€ to get that pic. Money well spent.

After a one hard lap in boiling weather tyres shows some marks of torture.

Time to fill up and then good bye Green Hell.

Germany is not always about autobahns. There is lot of nice beautifull windy roads.

Over the Moosel river.

Into Luxenburg.

Nice tower. No further info.

Right away in France there is anarchy.

There was all kind of weathers with in 50km. We got rain, storm, thunder and sun.

Thionville in France by night.

Thionville Tulip Inn is one of the stranges place I have ever been. It was like a maze. You can not enter all floors by one elevator. Lighs were controlled by motion sensors so you just had to enter into darknes for few step. Creepy. Room after all was very nice and cozy.

DAY 5:

Breakfast was a complete joke. No hard feelings but still I can't get over it. After that we wondered a bit and spent some time...

What tuning shop is this?

New complex building were built everywhere.

Modern France.

I'm a cat person so I had to take a picture.

Local grocery had quite good wine sectory. I bought two red and two white wines. One cheapest one most expencives.

Moved out Renault dealership.

While we checked out from out hotel I had to take a picture... So mystic cat face.

This is what I was talking about. We had to enter these corridors when elevators can't.

Église Saint-Joseph de Beauregard church cross the street of our hotel.

On the road again.

The idea was to see and drive tru french country side and small villages.

French country side, check.

Beatifull places. One side note... MB NTG navigator worked good with 2018 map DVD. I had Android tablet with Nokia Here as a backup device but I didn't use at all.

Stenay village.

Out of blue sky middle of small street there was a border. How funny is that. =)

Right away after border crossing the road become better. Sorry France.

Belgium country side.

Belgium highway.

Humor with bad taste.

Around the Bryssel.

Into Netherland.

Smooth like butter. I have to say that roads in Netherland were the best. Pity that there were a speed limits.

Lanes and more lanes. Nothing like we have in Finland.

Romantic Hoorn, Netherland.

Our hotel was former prison house. Very interesting place. My gf wasn't very excited when she found out that there were no door in toilet.

While we were in search of restaurant I saw cats.

Food and wine was excellent! And yes, we allso tested legendary space cakes. I have some experience but my gf was a total beginner and what saw I think its better that way...

Random picture of my car. I had to leave it quite far away from our hotel.

DAY 6:

Prison time was over.

Trip goes on from Hoorn to the Sluizen dam.

Afsluitdijk.

Nice white monumentalic structures.

Straight on.

Nice buildings on the other side.

Into the Germany...

Nothing new on german roads.

Wöhreden village we found nice cozy countryside hotel Landhotel Gasthof Oldenwöhrden. And hotel cat Ratz!

Nice room.

I left my gf at hotel I went some test drive by myself...
I was wishing to reach 300kmh but wind made car quite floaty after 260. And there were a bit too much traffic. I decided to back a little bit. No reason to kill myself or others for a video clip. As you can see there is power... Maybe next summer.

DAY 7:

Next morning Ratz were sleeping under the breakfast table. Poor cat had a rough night because there were quite a storm. Even I woke up when carden furnitures flew away.

On the road again. Bye bye Wöhrden.

Wind mils.

Denmark, once again.

Sweden. It was a boring to drive same roads again.

In Sweden we drove E22 to Kalmar.

The bridge to the Öland.

The island is quite rough. Almost like Finnish lapland.

After we checked in into our guesthouse we went for short evening walk.

Beautifull scenery.

DAY 8:

Brave new morning. After a strong country style breakfast I had a time to meet hostel cat Findus. Nice little fellow.

We had plenty of time to drive to Stockholm harbour so we drove around to see Öland islan in Sweden. Eketorp Norg.

Then we found Gettlinge Gravfält. SLK in the backround.

On the way to Stockholm we saw McLaren 650S, world biggest butter box and some nice old car.

At Stockholm harbour.

I had time to put my sticker on.

Finaly we got into boat.

DAY 9:

Nothing spectacular to raport. At morning boat arrived to rainy Finland and started to drive short leg to home.

5000km / 3106mls in a week.

Modest souvenirs I bought. Couple of wines, Nikka whiskey and some pan. Cheap wines I gave to my gf. That small pan is very handy for guy that lives alone.

Final words... Whole trip was a great success. Car worked without any problems, no speeding tickets, no fights and weather was more than I excepted. Remember to go when you still can. There is time for all of us that this is no possible any moore.

Can't wait next summer.
