I think it would be a blast to do that, but it would be in my Jeep or other SUV, not the SLK. There are parts of the Alaskan Highway that would tear up the SLK, so I would guess other parts of this road would be just as bad at times.

There has been an idea of a tunnel suspended in the Atlantic sea. long anchor cables from sea bed to the tunnel floating quite deep under the surface. the tunnel would be a vacuum so no air resistance for trains traveling through it.
trains would accelerate to near halfway then decelerate in 2nd half. crossing times would be very quick they say.
