Had such a GREAT time in Newport, OR so we're gonna do it again!

We had a wonderful time there last year. This year I plan on taking some scenic byways through the Columbia Gorge.

One of the best things to take along is a smart phone. I swear on previous trips we just couldn't find decent seafood. With my droid we had the best last year and MORE!

I'll take lots of pics and I'll rate the eateries.

Anybody have recommendations? We'll be there celebrating July 4th.

Sorry to my brothers and sisters across the pond! ;-)

We will be in Lincoln City about 25 miles north of Newport over the 4th. A place that we enjoy for seafood is Kyllo's. It is on the beach in Lincoln City. I am hooked on their Dungeness Crab Linguine with Alfredo Sauce.

I think we both did this last year didn't we? ;-)

"Tidal Rave" just North of Newport is good too.

They have an app for that. ;-) Google "goggles" is good as is Yelp. Both helped tremendously. Tripadvisor is good for reviews!

Have you done any of the "Scenic Highway" loops off the gorge?

Have a GREAT time! I know we're looking forward to it.

The Scenic highway loop we like the best in the Columbia River Gorge, will take you on the old highway past Multnomah Falls and around six other water falls as well. It is a narrow 20 mile or so stretch of road with great views of the Gorge that will add about 30 minutes to your drive time if you do not make any stops. It is a road that looks like it was made for the SLK, but being so close to Portland, traffic can be heavy and slow.

Comming from the east on I-84 take the Ainsworth Park exit (#35?). Then drive the old highway west to Troutdale and merge back onto I-84 around mile point 18.

Yes it is. It is along side the Sandy River a few miles before you get to Troutdale.
