swap in a V8?

seriously though i do know what you mean having had a 250cdi for 2 years. I am sorry to say that I think with the 4 pot diesel you are pretty much out of luck Just turn the music up and enjoy the driving experience

Yes I know what you mean! I traded in my 2016 E Class 220 for my SLK which supposedly have the same engine. The E Class was so much quieter and I have to say I was shocked with the noise from the SLK in comparison. Still not got used to it tbh. At low revs, pulling away it sounds like a taxi

Was this apparent on your test drive which I assume you took before changing cars?

Its always going to be a trade off, you cant get the fab mpg and the gorgeous sound of a sporty petrol with 8 pots!
My SLC sounds like a taxi on tickover but once moving cant notice it as plenty of soundproofing under the bonnet/hood and you have all that low down torque at low revs.
Sounds better in 'sport' and 'sport+' mode though, which is great fun on the winding roads here in somerset.
Just got to keep an eye out for tractors!

Well listen to this from cks performance in Watford

https://www.cksperformance.com/produ...slc&model=r172

They have 3 videos showing the mod and noise

Not sure if its worth it but then maybe you might want to

Thanks for that, not sure I'd be bothered.
I quite like the subdued sound of the diesel once you get moving.
Had a good old razz today in sport mode overtaking everything is sight, (I shouldn't be allowed out on my own, danger to the public!)
Sound is sporty but very subdued TBH I'm happy with it as it is, don't like to announce my coming!
The low down torque pick up is lovely and puts a smile on old pyecrust's face so what's not to like.
Mind you I'm a deaf old bugger so such subtleties are lost on me!
Cheers, David

I bought a V8 SoundRacer for my son when he passed his test last week! It's great fun and his mini has never sounded better.

As for the "dreary diesel" the only dreary thing is the noise (which is the primary reason I changed mine) The car itself was a pocket rocket for a 2 litre diesel, I loved it.

What a scream, didn't think such a device existed.
I want one!

......Had a rethink after watching this.
It would soon get on my nerves, think I'll stick to what I have.

Well I wouldnt bother either, jus that the OP was asking, I really dont see any point in putting a quad exhaust on a 250cdi it is what it is
