What modification is this, X-pipe? [pics inside]

I finally got a chance to look underneath my SLK55 and I'm pleased to say that everything looks great. I had a burning fear of needing a new subframe.

I also posted on another thread that the car sounds incredible, but unfortunately has an annoying exhaust drone when cruising at 40mph - 50mph.

It looks to my untrained eyes it is an X-pipe and secondary cat delete. Can anyone confirm this from the pictures?

Also wondering if there's any possible way of reducing the drone but keeping the amazing noise?

Look up your exhaust here. https://slk-links.neocities.org/EPCLINKS.HTM

Certainly looks like X pipe. See X pipe threads.
There may be hints on reducing the drone.

That looks in pretty good condition.

Did you take any pictures that show the outer edges of the subframe? Would be good to see where the exhaust support mounts to - I wonder why only one pipe is supported?

Would be good to compare to the car Im looking at - Ive posted some pics of that in my own thread

I didn't take any pictures sorry, but I inspected thoroughly and the garage confirmed I was looking all good.

Looks like I've gotten lucky with the car I've bought.

To reduce the drone or eliminate it completely youd need to fit a couple of small resonators where the secondary cats used to be but doing that may also affect the amazing noise

Another approach may be to fit an x-pipe there instead and have straight pipes rearwards from there. I had my R171 done that way and never had any complaints.

On my current R172 there are small resonators behind the cats from the factory. I have an x-pipe in the same location as you along with modified back boxes. Only time I experience a slight drone is when the car is running on 4 cylinders at around 1500rpm.

X-pipe and 2nd cat delete for sure. Do you still have mufflers out back? As Col mentioned, a pair of resonators should tame it down nicely, but keep the growl. Vibrant makes some I have had good luck with.
